The Crown of Sabah Mount Kinabalu :

Situated on the Panar Laban rock face of Mount Kinabalu, Mountain Torq’s via ferrata is the first in both Malaysia and Asia. According to Guinness World Records, it is the highest in the world, starting at 3,411 meters and ending at 3,776 meters. The climb from Mount Kinabalu Park Headquarters takes four to six hours. This alternate route to the 4,095-meter summit of Mount Kinabalu was opened in December 2007.

The via ferrata, also known as the “iron road” in Italian, is a mountain trail made up of a number of steel rungs, rails, and cables set into the rock face. It has made routes formerly only available to skilled rock climbers and mountaineers with specialized equipment accessible to the general public. The about 1.2-kilometer Mountain Torq’s via ferrata offers trails of various difficulty levels, making it suitable for hikers and climbers of all skill levels, from novices to intermediates.

In particular, families, schoolchildren, and climbers of all fitness levels love the “Walk The Torq.” Participants can enjoy the stunning Borneo landscape and take breath-taking photos while walking the 430-meter course, which takes two to three hours. It’s undoubtedly a good place for novices to start.

Hiking to Low’s Peak, Mount Kinabalu’s highest peak at 4,095 meters, is a great option for adventure-seeking climbing enthusiasts who are eager for a thrilling, adrenaline-boosting experience. This 763-meter exercise, which lasts four to five hours, is intended for people who are more fit than normal.

Climbers will take the “Low’s Peak Circuit” via ferrata diversion after descending from Low’s Peak in order to see breathtaking vistas and discover undiscovered areas of the alpine plateau. Walking on a 22-meter footbridge hung at almost 3,600 meters above sea level is another attraction.

In addition to helping to establish Sabah as a top sports and adventure tourist destination, this mountaineering activity has significantly increased awareness of Mount Kinabalu among mountain climbers worldwide.
